Dr. Alexander Kholodov from University of Fairbanks visits TSP Norway and UNIS

Dr. Alexander Kholodov (Geophysical Institute, University of Alaska, Fairbanks (UAF) has been visiting UNIS from April 25th to May 4th. This was to develop cooperation between UNIS and University of Alaska, Fairbanks, within the framework of the IPY project #50 “Thermal State of Permafrost”, and activity of the program NEESPI as a part of NSF program "International Research and Education: Planning Visits and Workshops".

During the visit Alexander Kholodov and Håvard Juliussen discussed data management of temperature and borehole data. Also methodological aspects of permafrost research were discussed, and Alexander was introduced with the TSP-Norway and UNIS approach to geothermal observations (see photo above).

In a PYRN (PYRN - Permafrost Young Researchers Network) session at UNIS April 28 th, Alexander Kholodov and Håvard Juliussen presented their work during the IPY, with the presentation theme "Sasha and Havard - two IPY TSP post docs. Their permafrost jobs during IPY".
